Battle of Olympus was chosen to be Revenant’s very first game release, because of our passion and nostalgia for the arcade fighting games we grew up with. Our development team played countless hours of this genre from a young age, so it’s no wonder Battle of Olympus takes inspiration from Street Fighter and Tekken.
We wanted to create something that would be both fun to play, without sacrificing depth and strategy. Our primary focus is to create a fun, engaging experience that you can enjoy with your friends!
Earning while playing is something that should be a bonus on top of a game you already want to play. At Revenant, we like to put gamers first to build a sustainable product that lasts well into the future.
In short, our game studio prioritizes the playability of our games.
Creating the concept for our flagship arcade fighting game
To stay true to our vision of Battle of Olympus as both a fun and strategic game, we decided early on that we would take a “less is more” approach to the mechanics. This brings Battle of Olympus in line with modern games and gamer preferences, while still allowing us to deliver a challenge at higher skill levels.
With punch, kick, rage, and move commands you will be able to execute many combos and special moves. Rage mechanic, in particular, opens up the strategic level of the game, while the combos will allow those who master the game to shine.
The characters in Battle of Olympus
Iconic characters are key to all games. We set out to make a game that would be a classic and took crafting our characters and story very seriously. Who are the gods, mere humans or something more? Who are they? Can anyone defeat them? Can Olympus exist without them? What is their plan for Olympus?
Obviously, the struggle between good and evil is important and essential to all storytelling. Nevertheless, gods of the Greek myths are flawed beings. Interestingly, that fits very well into the cyberpunk genre and the layered story we plan to tell.
Zeus is seen as a just god that rules through law and order. Even so, Olympus has started to deteriorate. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, but under her watch injustices and inequalities mounted. Hades is seen as a dangerous god of death, but many see in him the toppling of the order that oppressed them.
Much like in Greek mythology, gods in Battle of Olympus are complex characters whose agendas and moralities will appeal to various players. It will be up to the player to decide what path Olympians should take and how Olympus will get through the crisis.
Launching the demo
Through much hard work, we were able to produce a playable early version demo to showcase our progress. We plan to update it along the way, in addition to providing regular weekly updates about Battle of Olympus.
The road ahead seemed very long at first, but we can see our goal now more clearly than ever. In 2023 we will get there and ensure Battle of Olympus reaches its potential as a blockchain game that appeals to all gamers!
See you in Olympus in 2023!
